Handlebar Tour Comparisons – Economy vs. First
Economy Tours are public individual seat tours. You can book however many seats you want and will be paired up with others who book the same time as you. There is only one economy tour per time slot, so you’ll be paired with your friends if they choose the same time. You can bring your own drinks (beer/wine or prepackaged beverages under 9% are OK – Liquor or homemade potions no bueno).
For a premium experience, book our First Class tour that INCLUDES food and drink. This tour provides you with a dedicated bike for up to 16 passengers, your own driver, stereo, a round of shots from The Hangar for the bike. You also get a 7 foot long pizza BEFORE the tour to feed everyone. Did you know we also PROVIDE ice and a cooler ? You can BYOB or snag our fun frozen pouch drinks, Indianapolis / Hangar branded custom to-go cocktails, beer or whatever else you might need… TO-GO!

So do Drinks come with this thing or what ?
It’s your choice. You may BYOB if you’d like, however we provide the cooler, ice and cups and our to-go offerings are pretty nice. Keep in mind you also may not bring your own store bought alcohol into The Hangar when you come in before /after to hang and eat your brick oven pizza.

What’s the stereo like on your bikes ?
Brand new across the whole fleet in 2025 and boy are these systems sweet. We even installed new LED lighting systems with the stereos. Best in the industry and you’re going to love them!
Are your Pedal Pub / Party bikes all motorized or what ?
They sure are. For whatever reason there are rumors our bikes don’t have motors. THEY DO! haha We opened in Indy in 2012 and in those years Pedal Pubs were just pedaling, but after around 6 years of doing business we decided to add motors and it’s been easy peasy ever since!
What if I only have 2 people ? Or a small Group ?
No problem, just book our Economy individual seat tour! You can book 1 seat or 6 seats or whatever you’d like!
Why did I think you guys could only fit 14 people on your pedal pub / party bikes ?
Beats us, but we fit 16 people on every one of our 8 Pedal Pubs. There are 12 barstools that surround the bike and there’s a back bench that fits 3. But wait, that’s only 15! The 16th person gets to dance and bartend in the middle.
What is the HandleBar in Indianapolis?
HandleBar is a 16-passenger pedal pub (party bike) in downtown Indianapolis with a dancefloor in the middle. It’s a moving group experience combining a bar crawl, sightseeing, and private party.
How many people fit on one HandleBar?
Up to 16 passengers per bike.
Can 17 people ride together?
Not on one bike, but the good news is we have 8 bikes so you can spread out the group a bit and get multiple bikes. For 17 people you would need 2 bikes due to city laws and insurance limits. There’s zero wiggle room on this one. It’s required by insurance and city regulations. It cannot be exceeded.
Is this a pedal pub or party bike?
Pedal Pub is the original name for our bikes and it’s trademarked – only the bikes built in amsterdam where the idea to combine a bicycle and a bar can use that name. People call us party bikes though – and the name kind of fits
Where does the tour take place?
Downtown Indianapolis – We can go really anywhere downtown and the tour time is up to you. 95% of people let us handle the route, but if you want something specific just chat with your driver prior to departure and we’ll accommodate and talk through your requests
Does HandleBar have a dancefloor?
Yes, there is a dancefloor in the middle of the bike…. if you WANT there to be one ;)
What types of tours do you offer?
Economy and First Class. Full details are above but a first class tour is a private bike where you get the entire bike and bring the people. An economy tour is single seat and you only buy the amount of seats you want and are paired with soon to be BFFs (strangers at first though)
Is the 7-foot pizza really free?
Yes, if you check the box at checkout to include it, it comes FREE with First Class tours only and must be redeemed 1 hour before your tour time. The toppings are pepperoni and cheese, but you can upgrade to other toppings if you contact us. It’s huge and feeds 12-16 people depending on hunger level.
Can we eat the 7 foot pizza during or after the tour?
Nope, you can’t get it to-go and you can’t eat it after the tour. We do tours back to back to back and logistically it just wouldn’t work to have seating for people before AND after their tours. Plus, before your tour is when you need some food in your belly – not after!
Are we allowed to take instagram pictures with the pizza
ok literally no one asks us this one, but of course you can! It’s one of the most important parts of getting the pizza… instagram always eats first!

What stops are included?
All of them – the time is up to you. We recently added a “park games” stop where you hang at a park and play fun competitions like “Angry Turds” or our newest parachute game. Just ask us and we’ll let you know the options once you arrive and chat with your driver.
Do most groups choose their stops? Why or why not ?
No—most trust us to guide the route. Because of traffic, timing, and bar service speed we usually handle the bars. Rolling in with 16 people at once is not easy for every bar to just handle at any random day/time. We’ve got relationships we lean on, but if you want to press your luck or negotiate directly with your favorite spot ahead of time, it’s no problem at all. We’re a tour company and we want to show you the best possible time!
Can we split into two bikes?
Yep! Each bike fits 16 people and we have 8 bikes. If you’ve got more than 32 people it’ll require 3 bikes and some customization on our end. Reach out and ask us for some help and we’ll make it happen. And yes, we’ve done tours with all 8 bikes on multiple occassions ;)
Can HandleBar be used as a shuttle?
Yes—it’s a popular transportation option for our venue rentals. Can you imagine booking our venue and getting picked up by a bunch of pedal pubs ? Sure beats an uber, PLUS the party starts literally the second you walk out of your hotel / convention / office building.

Why should we buy drinks from you instead of bringing our own?
Because you’re fun and want fun drinks! We have frozen margaritas in custom Hoosier vessels. We have a canning machine with custom Indiana cans for our hand crafted cocktails. We’ve even got custom tumblers that come with 32 ounces of cocktails. For real – check em out at hangarindy.com/menu
Also, it’s so much more convenient to just show up. We provide Ice, Coolers, To-Go drinks and more. Why hassle with last minute liquor store runs, heavy coolers, dealing with where to put coolers after the tour when you really just want to have fun and keep the party rolling, etc.

Book, do waivers early, let us guide the route, and utilize our to-go drink options. You should be 100% focused on the fun and leave all the details to us. BE IN THE MOMENT!
What’s the biggest mistake groups make?
Getting stressed out on the day of the tour because they didn’t plan ahead. It’s ALWAYS best to arrive a little earlier in case there is construction. Last minute liquor store runs are the worst, the store may not have what you need and then you have to drive around in busy traffic when you should have your feet up relaxing and letting us take care of it.
